Berlin’s former State Mint, built in the 1930s, now operating as a venue for meetings & events.Alte Münze Berlin The relief frieze based on models by Gilly and Schadow from the year 1800 shows scenes of metal and coin making in an antique style. The original of the frieze came after the demolition of the first Münzgebäudes on Werdersche Markt initially to a first new building of the coin on the Niederwallstraße. When this building was demolished for the Reichsbankneubau ( Haus am Werderschen Markt ), the frieze was stored and a copy made for the construction described here. In the 1960s, the Senate of West Berlin received the original of the frieze.
