Glass Beach - Port Allen. Located behind a refinery and next to an old cemetery, many tiny pieces of glass fill the beach. Collectors have removed all the large pieces over the years and the mix of glass and sand feels odd in bare feet. There is an old cemetery to the east (as shown) which according to a Debrah Davis (who was there with her son cleaning up the beach area) was used for the McBryde plantation workers back a the end of the 19th century. A little further east is a trash dump also said to have origins from the planations, whose content over the years has washed into the sea and is the primary contributor to the glass on the beach.
